Electrofunk DJ Mix: "Cholo Funk"

I liked electro funk back before I knew that's what it was called. In 1984 my friend across the street had a breakdancing instructional tape we watched every morning when I stayed overnight at his house that summer.

Then I broke up with electrofunk like I always thought you were supposed to with childhood fascinations like cartoons, overly sugared cereal, and diapers. I rationalized that it was cheesy and I was above it.

As a resident of Santa Ana I frequently hear electrofunk emanating from the tinny speakers of a thuggish type Mexican dudes' cars and the combination of the fact that these guys could kiss ass and still loved that music did something funny to me. And I'm back to stay.
